About the Talking counter PCB

Talking counter is an open source PCB design by swharden, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86.4 × 61 mm, with 54 components from 26 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TLV3501AIDR, LM4862MX/NOPB, FT231XS, AP2112K-3.3 and AVR64DD32. By type, the board carries 17 resistors, 15 capacitors, 7 diodes, 6 ICs, 3 connectors and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the audio, usb & debug tools and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source USB frequency counter

This folder contains design notes for a talking frequency counter designed to help visually impaired radio operators to know what frequency they are transmitting on by speaking the frequency out loud when a button is pressed. This design uses a high-speed analog comparator to amplify signals on the frontend, measures them directly with a microcontroller, sends that data to a PC using a USB serial adapter, and also says the frequency out loud using a speaker.
