About the Psdaptwor PCB

Psdaptwor is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Swyter, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 101.3 × 63.5 mm, with 88 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040 microcontroller, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the SN65MLVD200ADR, W25Q128JVS, FUSB302B01MPX and AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 41 resistors, 24 capacitors, 7 transistors, 6 ICs, 4 connectors and 4 diodes.

From the project

An experimental PC adapter for EPCOT —the PlayStation®VR2 headset— that splits USB Type-C® into DisplayPort video, USB 3 data and power. Intercepting its DP-AUX/SBU and CC side channels.

No, it is not a typo. I needed something that could be unique and searchable, and contained PS, VR and two somewhere. Sony products (like the memory card USB one) seem to call their adapters adaptors, so I follow their naming scheme.

You can call it the pee ess virtual adaptor. :)

Psdaptwor: common questions

What microcontroller does the Psdaptwor use?

The Psdaptwor is built around the RP2040 microcontroller, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Psdaptwor PCB?

The Psdaptwor measures 101.3 × 63.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Psdaptwor?

88 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Psdaptwor design files?

From the Swyter/psdaptwor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Psdaptwor design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Swyter chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Psdaptwor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
