About the RC6802 Beep Chaser PCB

RC6802 Beep Chaser is an open source PCB design by tebl, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 92.7 mm, with 31 components from 12 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74LS374 and 74LS138. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 8 diodes, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 capacitors and 2 modules.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

Computer based on the Motorola 6802 processor, called RC6802 Microchicken as it's an adaption of the one found in a computer projects book by Daniel Metzger.

When starting out with retro computers, both fictional made homebrew or the commercial ones that were actually available for purchase in the 70s and 80s, there's one book in particular I've particularly enjoyed reading - that book is "22 micro-computer projects - to build, learn and learn" by Daniel Metzger (check out ebay or abebooks.com for a copy). Written in 1985 on the tail-end of the homebrew computer-period, it gathers what I believe is the culmination of 10 years of teaching basic electronics, digital logic and computers to people without any prior knowledge for any of those things -…
