About the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With PCB
ESPHome-Presence-Detector With is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Theered, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40.1 × 65 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-C3_SUPERMINI_SMD, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 1 IC, 1 diode and 1 capacitor.
It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.
From the project
i made a diy presence detector for my homeassistant smarthome. it can mesure light, instantly detect motion via a PIR, and maintain that state using a mmwave sensor. its basically the perfect presence sensor
To solve this, I built a presence detector using an mmWave sensor. Unlike a traditional PIR sensor, an mmWave sensor can detect very small movements, such as your chest moving while breathing, allowing it to reliably detect occupancy even when you're not moving around.
While designing the project, I decided to add a few extra features:
mmWave presence detection for reliable occupancy sensing PIR motion sensor for fast motion detection when entering the room Ambient light sensor to prevent lights from turning on when the room is already bright Status LED to indicate Wi-Fi or device issues…

ESPHome-Presence-Detector With: common questions
What microcontroller does the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With use?
The ESPHome-Presence-Detector With is built around the ESP32-C3_SUPERMINI_SMD, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With PCB?
The ESPHome-Presence-Detector With measures 40.1 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With?
6 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With design files?
From the Theered/ESPHome-Presence-Detector_With-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With design in my own project?
It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
Can I test firmware for the ESPHome-Presence-Detector With without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
