About the Main supply 4 VM PCB

Main supply 4 VM is an open source PCB design by Thinkpad4by3, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 194 components from 135 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LM5155DSSR, TLV314QDBVR, PC817, TL431DBZ and AP2204K-5.0. By type, the board carries 89 resistors, 52 capacitors, 19 diodes, 9 ICs, 6 transistors and 6 connectors.

From the project

Electrostatic CRT driver designed from the ground up for performance, versatility and ease-of-manufacturability

(Mention the lack of a good method of adjustment due to the Rfb being a single resistor)

The new design uses an LM5155 and a far more conventional topology. The filament was powered through a TL431 regulated isolated flyback converter, and the A2/A3 generation was done through non-isolated ground referenced converters. A2 was referenced to ground, so the A2 supply generated the cathode potential at -400 - 2000V, and A3 was just the positive copy of A2. The main HV supplies use the NA5920-ALD, the only >1:10 ratio transformer available at the moment that is

Main supply 4 VM: common questions

How big is the Main supply 4 VM PCB?

The Main supply 4 VM measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Main supply 4 VM?

194 components, from 135 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Main supply 4 VM design files?

From the Thinkpad4by3/chibitron repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Main supply 4 VM design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Thinkpad4by3. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
