About the Lyrebird dac PCB

Lyrebird dac is an open source PCB design by tm-treehouse, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 250.8 × 59 mm, with 42 components from 17 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the clock, 74AVC4T245, 16-bit, LT3045 and output. By type, the board carries 16 capacitors, 12 resistors, 11 ICs, 2 crystals and 1 connector.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Two boards, split at the I2S boundary per 0007. The contract between them is interface.md.

Two boards, split at the I2S boundary per 0007. The contract between them is interface.md.

The boards are described as code, not drawn. netlist/ holds SKiDL generators that emit KiCad netlists; see netlist/README.md for why, and for what is a real part versus a placeholder. Unconnected pins in the generated netlist are the honest measure of how finished a board is, which is why a missing part shows up as an open pin rather than as something nobody wrote down.

Lyrebird dac: common questions

How big is the Lyrebird dac PCB?

The Lyrebird dac measures 250.8 × 59 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lyrebird dac?

42 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lyrebird dac design files?

From the tm-treehouse/lyrebird repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lyrebird dac design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tm-treehouse. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
