About the PlacaPrueba PCB

PlacaPrueba is an open source ESP32 PCB design by TomasOsP, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 92.4 × 64.2 mm, with 12 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DEVKIT-V1, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 1 IC, 1 buzzer, 1 switch, 1 diode and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the sensors, test & measurement and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

Non-contact electric-field sensor with INA114 front-end + USB-C — KiCad hardware (CC BY 4.0)

Undergraduate degree project: a non-contact electric-field sensor with an instrumentation-amplifier analog front-end and a USB interface for data acquisition on a host computer. Designed in KiCad as a set of SMD boards.

The board senses a weak electric field through a front-end instrumentation amplifier (INA114) followed by a TL082 op-amp stage for further conditioning. An on-board AMS1117-3.3 regulator supplies the analog and digital sections, and a CP2102N USB-UART bridge with a USB-C connector streams data to a host over a standard virtual COM port — no external programmer or interface…

PlacaPrueba: common questions

What microcontroller does the PlacaPrueba use?

The PlacaPrueba is built around the ESP32-DEVKIT-V1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PlacaPrueba PCB?

The PlacaPrueba measures 92.4 × 64.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PlacaPrueba?

12 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PlacaPrueba design files?

From the TomasOsP/electric-field-sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PlacaPrueba design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which TomasOsP chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PlacaPrueba without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
