About the Segno led strip PCB

Segno led strip is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by tomassasovsky, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 16 × 8 mm, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PICO2, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 2 connectors, 1 diode and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

Single-LED WS2812B indicator puck for the Segno console: one board per indicator pedal, sitting under that pedal's small pill diffuser slot in the faceplate. One board is 16 x 8 mm, 2-layer, 1.6 mm, carrying 1x WS2812B 5050 addressable LED (with its 100nF 0603 decoupling cap) and castellated half-hole pads on both 8 mm ends.

Boards daisy-chain pedal to pedal with three short wires (5V / DATA / GND, same pad order top-to-bottom on both ends — left-end DATA is DIN, right-end DATA is DOUT) soldered to the castellated end pads. The castellations also allow butting boards edge-to-edge (the LED…

Segno led strip: common questions

What microcontroller does the Segno led strip use?

The Segno led strip is built around the PICO2, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Segno led strip PCB?

The Segno led strip measures 16 × 8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Segno led strip?

4 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Segno led strip design files?

From the tomassasovsky/segno repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Segno led strip design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which tomassasovsky chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Segno led strip without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
