About the MIDI PCB

MIDI is an open source PCB design by Tommie1236, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 42.1 mm, with 24 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the H11L1. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 6 inductors, 4 connectors, 3 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 diode.

It belongs with the audio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

lighting focused midi controller

- motorized faders. Mostly for dimming controls, enough in the playback section and 1 as Master. I chose motorized so they could sync with the controlling software if the value changes and for for example if you were to switch banks to a new set of controls. (mydmx doesn't support that but i wanted to design my controller to work with almost anything.)

- Buttons. for playbacks/executors en general control, a whole lot. Of Course. what would a controller be without a lot of buttons. I also want them to have black with transparent text keycaps and rgb leds below to show the status of the…

MIDI: common questions

How big is the MIDI PCB?

The MIDI measures 80 × 42.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MIDI?

24 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MIDI design files?

From the Tommie1236/midi-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MIDI design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which Tommie1236 chose for the repository.
