UATR TDM

About the UATR TDM PCB

UATR TDM is an open source FPGA PCB design by toomuchmarlboro, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 783 components from 70 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Altera Cyclone IV DevBoard, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the LMK1C1104PWR, THAT1512, OPA1632DR, ADAU1978 and JCM30 - 24 to 15. By type, the board carries 331 capacitors, 242 resistors, 67 diodes, 47 ICs, 29 connectors and 2 transistors.

From the project

RTL for TDMing 4 x ADAU1978 into sync'd 16channel streams

16-channel 24-bit underwater acoustic acquisition — 4× ADAU1978 → Cyclone IV E → LAN8720A → fiber → 7 km subsea → host PC

Four of these boards form the deployed array: 64 channels, beamformed on a single host.

The design is complete and the firmware is frozen. rtl/topsystem.vhd as committed is the shipping configuration, and the eight flashable images in outputfiles/ were built from it by buildall.sh`.

UATR TDM: common questions

What microcontroller does the UATR TDM use?

The UATR TDM is built around the Altera Cyclone IV DevBoard, from the FPGA family.

How many components are on the UATR TDM?

783 components, from 70 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the UATR TDM design files?

From the toomuchmarlboro/UATR_TDM repository on GitHub, which has a netlist; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the UATR TDM design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which toomuchmarlboro chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the UATR TDM without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
