About the AccelerationDataLogger PCB

AccelerationDataLogger is an open source STM32 PCB design by Toroid-io, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 78.1 × 78.7 mm, with 85 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072CBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the FT232RL, LD1117S50TR, LD3985M33R_SOT23, 23LCRAM and 25LC_EEPROM. By type, the board carries 25 capacitors, 20 resistors, 18 connectors, 10 diodes, 6 ICs and 4 switches.

It belongs with the sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An open source acceleration data logger board and software, using widely available sensors

AccelerationDataLogger provides a hardware-software bundle to measure and log accelerations. Originally developed to measure oscillations in engineering models, it may be used in the following applications, among others:

- Structural dynamics - Sports science - Simple vibration analysis - Fall detection - Wearables development - As an accelerometer playground

AccelerationDataLogger: common questions

What microcontroller does the AccelerationDataLogger use?

The AccelerationDataLogger is built around the STM32F072CBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the AccelerationDataLogger PCB?

The AccelerationDataLogger measures 78.1 × 78.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the AccelerationDataLogger?

85 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AccelerationDataLogger design files?

From the Toroid-io/AccelerationDataLogger repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AccelerationDataLogger design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Toroid-io chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the AccelerationDataLogger without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
