About the Ofen v2 PCB

Ofen v2 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Ulf-vom-Mond, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 109.2 × 63.5 mm, with 58 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TS4061BILT-1.225, MCP3461T-E/ST, CYT8117T33, CD4097B and 74HC165. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 15 resistors, 10 ICs, 7 connectors, 3 jumpers and 2 switches.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

I am building a high temperature oven which I want to go up to 1300 °C. It will be used for melting glass and metals and doing pottery. In this repository, you can find the software, the schematic and the PCB design for the controller. This is version two as version 1 had a lot of issues and the project changed a lot.

IMPORTANT: You need to set the clock to "Internal 8 MHz". If you select anything called "external", the ATMega will not run and you cannot program it anymore.

Ofen v2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ofen v2 use?

The Ofen v2 is built around the ATmega328P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Ofen v2 PCB?

The Ofen v2 measures 109.2 × 63.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ofen v2?

58 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ofen v2 design files?

From the Ulf-vom-Mond/ofen_v2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ofen v2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Ulf-vom-Mond. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Ofen v2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
