About the Ultimate base PCB

Ultimate base is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by ultimaterobotics, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 37.5 × 18 mm, with 26 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the nRF52832-QFxx, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the CP2102. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 4 resistors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, wearables and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

uECG - very small wearable ECG device that sends raw and processed data over BLE

This is an old repository - new version is located here: https://github.com/ultimaterobotics/uECG (and is divided into multiple repositories for relevant parts of the project, links are in description)

Project is in active development stage, at the current moment we have shared: schematics and PCB design ECG monitor program based on Node.js, cross-platform ECG monitor program for Linux (outdated: might not work properly, please use cross-platform version instead) Firmware for the main unit, rather stable and reliable build. Next planned major update will cover better beat detection and more…

Ultimate base: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ultimate base use?

The Ultimate base is built around the nRF52832-QFxx, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Ultimate base PCB?

The Ultimate base measures 37.5 × 18 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ultimate base?

26 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ultimate base design files?

From the ultimaterobotics/uECG_v4_3_all repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ultimate base design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ultimaterobotics chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ultimate base without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
