About the Light sw controller PCB

Light sw controller is an open source ESP32 PCB design by VladimirV01, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61.2 × 67.3 mm, with 53 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 9 diodes, 9 capacitors, 5 connectors, 5 switches and 4 transistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository covers the controller plate for popular TUYA in-wall switches.

If you want to build one, before commiting please SEE OPEN ISSUES.

There is an interactive BOM HTML file here, and a CSV BOM here. The light-sw-controller.zip file can be used to order parts from JLCPCB (this is what I used). For other PCB manufacturers you might need to generate the production files yourself.

I have also added an example of ESPHome code I use for this device here. You absolutely do not need to complicate it as much as I did, you can go as simple as a sensor for the button and an output for the relay. I made it more complex because, apparently, I love to make my life…

Light sw controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Light sw controller use?

The Light sw controller is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Light sw controller PCB?

The Light sw controller measures 61.2 × 67.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.

How many components are on the Light sw controller?

53 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Light sw controller design files?

From the VladimirV01/light-sw-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Light sw controller design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with VladimirV01. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Light sw controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
