- ~50 W total at full drive (≈0.5 W per LED @ 256 mA, huge margin on 3 W-rated LEDs) - Per-LED PWM: one PT4115 buck constant-current channel per LED, DIM pins on six PCA9685 16-channel I2C PWM expanders (run PWM at ~244 Hz → ~10-11 usable bits) - Per-LED temperature: one 0603 NTC beside each LED, multiplexed 16:1 onto six ESP32…

Control board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Control board use?

The Control board is built around the ESP32 left (3V3 row), from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Control board?

The Control board measures 3 × 3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Control board?

625 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Control board design files?

From the Weepfrog/96WellPlateLEDArray repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Control board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Weepfrog. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Control board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
