About the Hackpad PCB

Hackpad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by wetzii, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 28 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 12 switches, 12 diodes, 2 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

This is my first real Try for HackClub Blueprint challange

Important to know The Rotary Encoder Switch just works to mute and unmute the Capacitor just there as backup! I would work without the Capacitors but for me its okay.

The Crash Pad runs on KMK Firmware (CircuitPython).

Layout: A standard Numpad layout (0–9, Backspace, Enter) OLED: Displays a custom logo and device name on a 128x32 SSD1306 display Encoder:** Programmed as a System Mute toggle (works in all applications)

Hackpad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hackpad use?

The Hackpad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Hackpad PCB?

The Hackpad measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad?

28 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad design files?

From the wetzii/Hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which wetzii chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Hackpad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
