About the ZCS18 PCB

ZCS18 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by ZeniteSolar, published on GitHub under the LGPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 102.9 × 45.7 mm, with 69 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-AU_alt, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP2551-I/SN, MCP2515-E/ST-SOIC18 and LM7805. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 18 resistors, 10 connectors, 4 ICs, 4 diodes and 3 jumpers.

It belongs with the power & battery and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

The piece of hardware used in almost all modules in the boat of Zênite Solar Team on 2018.

Zênite Solar TEAM is an universitary project from IFSC focused on the development of a high performance solar boat for races and it aims to be completly open source.

ZCS18: common questions

What microcontroller does the ZCS18 use?

The ZCS18 is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU_alt, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ZCS18 PCB?

The ZCS18 measures 102.9 × 45.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ZCS18?

69 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ZCS18 design files?

From the ZeniteSolar/ZCS18 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ZCS18 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its LGPL-3.0 license, which ZeniteSolar chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ZCS18 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
