About the Business card PCB

Business card is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by zeti1223, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 72 × 38 mm, with 38 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY85-20S, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC595. By type, the board carries 25 diodes, 5 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 capacitors, 1 battery holder and 1 switch.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

I built this interactive PCB business card as a fun way to stand out and show off my electronics skills. It's a custom 5x5 LED matrix powered by an ATtiny85 microcontroller, running off a single CR2032 coin cell battery.

The card displays a smiling face animation that cycles through different expressions. There's also a tactile button (though I haven't implemented any specific button functionality yet - it's there for future expansion!). The whole thing runs for a decent amount of time on a coin cell thanks to the efficient LED multiplexing.

Business card: common questions

What microcontroller does the Business card use?

The Business card is built around the ATTINY85-20S, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Business card PCB?

The Business card measures 72 × 38 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Business card?

38 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Business card design files?

From the zeti1223/Business-card repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Business card design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with zeti1223. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Business card without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
