About the Logic board

Logic board is an open source ESP32 PCB design by zhangyuyi99, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65.3 × 78.6 mm, with 114 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 34 connectors, 24 resistors, 21 diodes, 20 jumpers, 12 capacitors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A hot wire anemometer based on ESP32

This project includes the design and implementation of a Wi-Fi enabled anemometer. The anemometer consists of a hardware portion which includes the PCB designs for the main board and logic board and a software portion which includes the firmware for operating the anemometer. The anemometer uses a hot wire method for wind speed measurement, and it includes a function to monitor battery voltage, disabling wind readings when the voltage drops below 7V until it recovers.

Logic board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Logic board use?

The Logic board is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Logic board?

The Logic board measures 65.3 × 78.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Logic board?

114 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Logic board design files?

From the zhangyuyi99/hot-wire-anemometer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Logic board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with zhangyuyi99. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Logic board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
