About the Pcb

Pcb is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by zzeneg, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 129 × 93.3 mm, with 51 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the xiao-ble, from the Nordic nRF family. By type, the board carries 19 diodes, 18 switches, 6 connectors, 3 jumpers and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Keyboard with low-profile Choc switches

Low-profile split keyboard with 36 keys using XIAO controllers.

- reversible PCB - 36 soldered ChocV1 keys - wired/wireless versions - top pinky key moved to side - 3D printed case

- XIAO RP 2040 controller - QMK firmware - TRRS or USB-C connection between halves - rotary encoder on one side - one status LED

- XIAO BLE controller - [TODO] ZMK firmware - rotary encoder on both sides (ZMK supports only main side for now) - on/off toggle - battery connectors

Pcb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pcb use?

The Pcb is built around the xiao-ble, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Pcb?

The Pcb measures 129 × 93.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pcb?

51 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pcb design files?

From the zzeneg/picachoc36 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pcb design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which zzeneg chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pcb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
