About the Stront PCB

Stront is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by zzeneg, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 321 × 92.3 mm, with 170 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the rp2040-zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 42 diodes, 40 switches, 40 LEDs, 8 connectors, 6 jumpers and 4 resistors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Split keyboards with 38 or 40 keys, LCD display and Cirque trackpad

Family of modular split keyboards with 38 or 40 keys, LCD display and Cirque/Azoteq trackpad.

All versions: - Hotswap sockets - LCD display (1.69" 240x280 by default) - Cirque or Azoteq (with VIK adapter) trackpad - roller/rotary encoders - 3D printed cases - exposed SPI/I2C contacts, so any other device can be used instead, it's just a matter of changing the case

Stront: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stront use?

The Stront is built around the rp2040-zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Stront PCB?

The Stront measures 321 × 92.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stront?

170 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stront design files?

From the zzeneg/stront repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stront design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which zzeneg chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Stront without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
