Controller V1 is a custom handheld game-controller board built around the Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller. It was designed from scratch in KiCad, covering schematic capture, power design, and full PCB layout.

The board is powered over USB-C, regulates 5 V down to 3.3 V with a synchronous buck converter, and carries an 8-button input matrix (D-pad + A/B + Mode/Select) plus a dedicated reboot button, an external QSPI flash chip for program storage, an I²C header for a monochrome OLED, an SWD debug port, and a 4-channel ADC breakout — making it a solid base for handheld gaming and general…

RP2040-Embedded-Controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the RP2040-Embedded-Controller use?

The RP2040-Embedded-Controller is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the RP2040-Embedded-Controller PCB?

The RP2040-Embedded-Controller measures 145 × 75 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RP2040-Embedded-Controller?

47 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RP2040-Embedded-Controller design files?

From the 0susi0/RP2040-Embedded-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RP2040-Embedded-Controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which 0susi0 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the RP2040-Embedded-Controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
