About the Rcl PCB

Rcl is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by 0x007E, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52 × 52 mm, with 73 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny1604-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP73833, TPS61023DRLR, AT24CM02-SSHM and FT230XS. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 20 capacitors, 15 diodes, 5 ICs, 3 connectors and 3 switches.

From the project

Color Lamp

The RCL is a board with a set of APA102 or any other SPI controllable RGB-LED. The board itself is driven with 5V over USB and can be configured with the integrated UART interface (MCP2221A). The Color Lamp itself is controlled over the additional Touchpad (TPD) and can be switched on/off over a slide switch.

The pcb is created with KiCAD, the housing with FreeCAD. All files are built with github actions so that they are ready for a production environment.

Rcl: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rcl use?

The Rcl is built around the ATtiny1604-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Rcl PCB?

The Rcl measures 52 × 52 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rcl?

73 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rcl design files?

From the 0x007E/rcl repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rcl design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Rcl without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
