About the Flipper Zero Wifi Module

Flipper Zero Wifi Module is an open source ESP32 PCB design by aaakum4, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 80 × 40 mm, with 56 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S2-WROVER, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AZ1117-3.3 and Flipper_Zero. By type, the board carries 24 resistors, 12 transistors, 6 diodes, 6 capacitors, 3 connectors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Now that I have made a custom Flipper, I use create some accessories for it to go with.

A custom expansion board for the Flipper Zero that adds WiFi capability and a high-power IR blaster, designed with safety, flexibility, and future expansion in mind.

This project was designed specifically for my custom Flipper Zero build, which can be found here: https://github.com/aaakum4/Sorta-Flipper-Zero

While the designs and files are shared openly, they should not be blindly copied or connected to a stock Flipper Zero without understanding the electrical implications. Component choices, power rails, and protection methods were selected with my particular setup and use case in mind. If…

Flipper Zero Wifi Module: common questions

What microcontroller does the Flipper Zero Wifi Module use?

The Flipper Zero Wifi Module is built around the ESP32-S2-WROVER, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Flipper Zero Wifi Module?

The Flipper Zero Wifi Module measures 80 × 40 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Flipper Zero Wifi Module?

56 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Flipper Zero Wifi Module design files?

From the aaakum4/Flipper-Accessories repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Flipper Zero Wifi Module design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which aaakum4 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Flipper Zero Wifi Module without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
