About the Smart-Gloves PCB
Smart-Gloves is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Adnanosman9, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 38.5 × 34.5 mm, with 16 components from 6 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C3-SMD, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MPU-6050. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 5 connectors, 2 ICs and 2 capacitors.
It belongs with the sensors, iot & wireless and wearables designs in this gallery.
From the project
This is a research project. We are planning to make an open source dataset of Bengali Sign Language (BdSL). To collect data of hand movements we are creating this smart glove for both hand using esp32, MPU650 and 3d printed flex sensors.
A lot of deaf people in Bangladesh have no easy way to talk to people who don't know sign language. I wanted to fix that. Not with a camera setup that needs good lighting and a phone pointed at you the whole time, but something you actually wear and carry around. So I built it into a glove.
There are two ways to build this depending on what you have access to.

Smart-Gloves: common questions
What microcontroller does the Smart-Gloves use?
The Smart-Gloves is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C3-SMD, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Smart-Gloves PCB?
The Smart-Gloves measures 38.5 × 34.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Smart-Gloves?
16 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Smart-Gloves design files?
From the Adnanosman9/Smart-Gloves repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Smart-Gloves design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Adnanosman9 chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Smart-Gloves without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
