About the Lawn sprinkler PCB

Lawn sprinkler is an open source ESP32 PCB design by adriencarbonaro, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 135 × 101.5 mm, with 87 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MOC3041M and FULARR_MP1584EN. By type, the board carries 34 resistors, 15 connectors, 12 transistors, 9 diodes, 8 ICs and 7 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Lawn Sprinkler Controller

ESP32 based firmware (ESP-IDF / FreeRTOS) for a 6-zone lawn-sprinkler controller. Drives 6 active-high triac outputs with mutual exclusion (only one zone ever on at a time), and use 6 ON/OFF buttons for Home Assistant.

State is exchanged over MQTT, and on (re)connect the device publishes a single Home Assistant device-discovery payload — all entities (mode select, duration select, six per-zone switches, version sensor) appear grouped under one device, no manual HA configuration required.

Lawn sprinkler: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lawn sprinkler use?

The Lawn sprinkler is built around the ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Lawn sprinkler PCB?

The Lawn sprinkler measures 135 × 101.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lawn sprinkler?

87 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lawn sprinkler design files?

From the adriencarbonaro/lawn-sprinkler repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lawn sprinkler design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with adriencarbonaro. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lawn sprinkler without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
