About the UI PCB

UI is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by adsehgal, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120 × 120 mm, with 75 components from 49 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TS5A3357, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM2576_DB. By type, the board carries 25 capacitors, 20 resistors, 9 connectors, 5 ICs, 4 diodes and 3 LEDs.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repo collates my senior design project at UCSC.

SlugCharge was a student run project geared towards helping the homeless communit of Santa Cruz, CA. The project was led by four Electrical Engineering students at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The team aimed towards providing solar powered charging stations to the community so they can stay conencted with family and potential employers that may turn their life around!

UI: common questions

What microcontroller does the UI use?

The UI is built around the TS5A3357, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the UI PCB?

The UI measures 120 × 120 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the UI?

75 components, from 49 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the UI design files?

From the adsehgal/SlugCharge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the UI design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with adsehgal. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the UI without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
