About the Core PCB

Core is an open source ESP32 PCB design by andreapiccini, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 31.3 × 67.7 mm, with 28 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the HC-TYPE-C-16P-01A, SN74AHCT1G14DCKR, AP2112K-3.3TRG1 and SN65HVD230DR. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 capacitors, 5 ICs, 3 diodes, 2 switches and 1 connector.

From the project

SpaghettiLab is an open modular hardware and software ecosystem for rapid prototyping, embedded systems development, and product innovation.

The Community repository tracks the editable KiCad projects required to study, modify and build the public hardware: project, schematic, PCB, symbol, footprint and related source assets.

Generated manufacturing outputs are intentionally not tracked. This includes production/ directories, Gerber and drill files, pick-and-place exports, BOMs, netlists, fabrication ZIP archives and fabrication-toolkit local options. Generate them from the reviewed KiCad sources when needed; official manufacturing releases and production controls are maintained separately.

Core: common questions

What microcontroller does the Core use?

The Core is built around the ESP32-S3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Core PCB?

The Core measures 31.3 × 67.7 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Core?

28 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Core design files?

From the andreapiccini/spaghettilab-community repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Core design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Core without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
