About the Banjobox PCB

Banjobox is an open source PCB design by AndrewJ-25, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 74.7 × 89.9 mm, with 22 components from 14 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SHT31-DIS, ER_OLEDM0.91_1x-I2C, LM1117T-3.3, MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO and PAM8302AAD. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 5 ICs, 4 test points, 3 resistors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the sensors, displays & leds and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

A case for storing string instruments. Includes temperature sensor, humidity sensor and tuner.

Banjobox is a banjo case with a built in tuner and temperature/ humidity sensor. I designed it to store a mountain banjo I made but the case can be modified to accomodate other string instruments.

Purchasing a banjo case is difficult, especially as shape varies a lot. Banjobox is low cost (plywood, softwood timber) and super customiseable!

Banjobox features a Seeed Studios Xiao RP2040 running MicroPython. UI consists of a rotary encoder and 0.91" OLED display. You can select different notes to be played through the speaker to tune your banjo.

Banjobox: common questions

How big is the Banjobox PCB?

The Banjobox measures 74.7 × 89.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Banjobox?

22 components, from 14 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Banjobox design files?

From the AndrewJ-25/Banjobox repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Banjobox design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AndrewJ-25. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
