About the Meshtastic e22-node PCB

Meshtastic e22-node is an open source ESP32 PCB design by andriykohut, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 18 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the E22-400M22S (SX1268), GY-NEO8MV2, SSD1306 128x64, TP4056 and TPS63020. By type, the board carries 6 ICs, 4 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 battery holders, 2 switches and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

DIY 433 MHz Meshtastic node — ESP32-S3 + Ebyte E22-400M22S, with a custom firmware variant, wiring diagrams and build notes

Net-label style — every pin carries a label on its connection point instead of routed wires. Written for the KiCad 6 file format; 7 and later will open it and offer to upgrade.

Symbols are plain rectangles from an embedded meshnode library that isn't installed anywhere, so KiCad will flag them as not found and fall back to the cached definitions in the file. It renders and nets fine; rescue or remap them if the warnings are annoying.

Meshtastic e22-node: common questions

What microcontroller does the Meshtastic e22-node use?

The Meshtastic e22-node is built around the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1, from the ESP32 family.

How many components are on the Meshtastic e22-node?

18 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Meshtastic e22-node design files?

From the andriykohut/meshtastic-e22-node repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Meshtastic e22-node design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which andriykohut chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Meshtastic e22-node without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
