About the EncoderWiFiBT PCB
EncoderWiFiBT is an open source ESP32 PCB design by AStrehlau, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 34.8 × 34.8 mm, with 29 components from 18 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the CH340C, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the M3406 and ESP32-WROOM-32D. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 8 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 inductors and 2 transistors.
It belongs with the iot & wireless and displays & leds designs in this gallery.
From the project
WiFi and Bluetooth capable rotary encoder with 20 adressable LEDs
This "SmartEncoder" uses 20 adressable LEDs (SK6805-EC15 or potentially XL-1615RGBC-WS2812B) to visualize the set point of the encoder. The SmartEncoder boasts WiFi and Bluetooth capability using the ESP32, which makes it viable for Smart Home and PC control applications. It should be noted that stock Windows does not normally have the capability to send the current volume level over BT, which is why a PC side software to take care of that will be uploaded in the future for use as a BT PC volume knob.

EncoderWiFiBT: common questions
What microcontroller does the EncoderWiFiBT use?
The EncoderWiFiBT is built around the CH340C, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the EncoderWiFiBT PCB?
The EncoderWiFiBT measures 34.8 × 34.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the EncoderWiFiBT?
29 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the EncoderWiFiBT design files?
From the AStrehlau/SmartEnconder-20xARGB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the EncoderWiFiBT design in my own project?
It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
Can I test firmware for the EncoderWiFiBT without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
