About the KiCAD example PCB
KiCAD example is an open source ESP32 PCB design by ATClare, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 27 components from 22 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-DevKitC V4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the SN74AHCT1G125DBVR. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 6 capacitors, 4 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 fuse.
It belongs with the robotics & motion and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
ESP32 soil moisture and servo valve prototype with KiCad electronics, enclosure CAD, firmware, and dashboard
An engineer-reviewable, low-voltage irrigation prototype: a capacitive soil probe, ESP32 controller, servo-operated valve interface, three panel LEDs, printable enclosure, and a local web dashboard with moisture history and threshold notifications.
Release status: design prototype. Electronic connectivity, CAD geometry, firmware compilation, and software behavior can be checked without hardware. Valve torque, actual closure, water flow, electrical transients, moisture calibration, and printed-part fit require the acceptance tests below. This package is not a validated unattended watering…

KiCAD example: common questions
What microcontroller does the KiCAD example use?
The KiCAD example is built around the ESP32-DevKitC V4, from the ESP32 family.
How many components are on the KiCAD example?
27 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the KiCAD example design files?
From the ATClare/kiCAD_example repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the KiCAD example design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ATClare. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the KiCAD example without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
