Target: take ~100 dB(A) plant noise down to ≤ 75 dB(A) at the ear (passive earcup + ANC), below the 85 dB(A) 8-hour limit. Also a built-in noise dosimeter, hear-through for speech and alarms, a seal monitor that measures the cup's attenuation while it is worn and warns when the seal leaks (glasses, hair, a tilted helmet), and an optional BLE link.

ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup): common questions

What microcontroller does the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) use?

The ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) is built around the STM32H743VIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup)?

The ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) measures 60 × 50 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup)?

139 components, from 65 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) design files?

From the baba2712/smart-helmet-with-anc repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which baba2712 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ANC Helmet - main board (left earcup) without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
