About the PCPI AppliCard PCB

PCPI AppliCard is an open source PCB design by baldengineer, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 271.8 × 78.7 mm, with 76 components from 33 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MK4164-12, SN74LS158N, Z84C0006PEG, 2764 and Z84C3006PEG. By type, the board carries 32 ICs, 30 capacitors, 9 resistors, 2 connectors, 1 transistor and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

Project for capturing vintage, classic, aka old computer schematics in KiCad.

This is a clone of the PCPI AppliCard, a Z80 coprocessor card for the Apple II. I've previously captured the Microsoft Softcard, a simpler Z80 board that uses the Apple II's memory. This board has its own 64K (expandable to 192K) connected directly to the Z80 and running at the same speed.

The schematic was captured from published sources. The PCB layout is based on the component layout shown in a photo of the original board, but the connections between components are my own work. The new PCB, like the original, is a 2-layer design.
