About the Bmcv PCB

Bmcv is an open source STM32 PCB design by Bemeier, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 80 × 108 mm, with 370 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G474CETx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the PEL12T-4225S-S1024, WS2811F, MCP23S17_SS, TXS0108EPW and AD7367-5. By type, the board carries 169 resistors, 110 capacitors, 42 ICs, 16 switches, 14 connectors and 4 inductors.

It belongs with the audio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Macro CV controller for eurorack inspired by the Emblematic Systems Catalyst

Eight scene-crossfaded LFOs in 16HP, with a PLL that locks them to an incoming clock. This repository is the firmware, and three other things that run the same firmware: a headless simulator, a browser frontend, and a VCV Rack module.

bemeier.github.io/bmcv is that frontend, built and deployed from main. It runs the module with no install, shows a physical one over USB if you have the hardware, and carries the manual, a firmware updater and a diagnostics page.

Bmcv: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bmcv use?

The Bmcv is built around the STM32G474CETx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Bmcv PCB?

The Bmcv measures 80 × 108 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bmcv?

370 components, from 40 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bmcv design files?

From the Bemeier/bmcv repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bmcv design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which Bemeier chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bmcv without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
