About the Bitraf hydroponics PCB

Bitraf hydroponics is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by bitraf, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 50 mm, with 40 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the TPS54202 and AP2114H-3.3TRG1. By type, the board carries 16 connectors, 8 capacitors, 6 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 transistors and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

TODO: * Rearrange MOSFETs so they work as expected

TODO: * Rearrange MOSFETs so they work as expected

QUESTIONS: * Do we need the exra pins going to GND on rotary encoder and programing headers if we go for the jumper solution?

DONE: Added "0ohm" pull-up between VCC -> CHPD Added 10k pull-up between GPIO2 -> 3.3v Added jumper connector to pull-down RESET and GPIO0 -> GND

Bitraf hydroponics: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bitraf hydroponics use?

The Bitraf hydroponics is built around the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Bitraf hydroponics PCB?

The Bitraf hydroponics measures 100 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bitraf hydroponics?

40 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bitraf hydroponics design files?

From the bitraf/bitraf-hydroponics repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bitraf hydroponics design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which bitraf chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bitraf hydroponics without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
