From the project
An open source 21-Pin DCC Decoder for model trains
A miniature DCC decoder for model railways featuring an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, designed to fit standard 21-pin sockets. Includes motor control, sound output, and lighting control in a 30x15.5mm footprint (following NMRA spec).
I don't quite have the time to work on this project at the momemnt but Kyle (ProjectInitiative) is starting to work on firmware for this board. You can follow the progress here: https://github.com/ProjectInitiative/NIMRS-Firmware

NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder: common questions
What microcontroller does the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder use?
The NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder is built around the ESP32-S3FN8, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder PCB?
The NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder measures 30 × 23.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.0412 mm thick.
How many components are on the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder?
68 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder design files?
From the CDFER/NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with CDFER. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the NIMRS-21Pin-Decoder without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
