About the HIDMorph PCB

HIDMorph is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by cedarhacks, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 75 × 55 mm, with 39 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the SPX1117M3-L-3-3, W25Q128JVE and ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R8. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 6 resistors, 5 ICs, 5 switches, 4 diodes and 3 LEDs.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hardware/Firmware of HIDMorph, a lua configurable HID translation/generation device

HIDMorph is a programmable USB HID host/device translator built on a dual-MCU architecture (ESP32-S3 + RP2040). It enables real-time translation, remapping, and transformation of USB HID inputs (keyboards, mice, controllers) without requiring firmware recompilation.

The system is designed as an embedded product, combining real-time firmware, USB protocol handling, and custom hardware.

HIDMorph: common questions

What microcontroller does the HIDMorph use?

The HIDMorph is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the HIDMorph PCB?

The HIDMorph measures 75 × 55 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HIDMorph?

39 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HIDMorph design files?

From the cedarhacks/HIDMorph repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HIDMorph design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with cedarhacks. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the HIDMorph without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
