Design files and source code for the tRacket noise sensor
This repository contains all source code and hardware design files for the tRacket noise sensor.
Environmental noise, especially in urban settings, is a known public health concern:
The tRacket noise sensor continuous monitors ambient sound levels (in decibels, dBA) and sends these measurements to an online dashboard (also on GitHub). Our goal is to help local communities better understand the sound levels and extreme noise events that they experience day to day.

TRacket sensor: common questions
What microcontroller does the TRacket sensor use?
The TRacket sensor is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the TRacket sensor PCB?
The TRacket sensor measures 44 × 31 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the TRacket sensor?
17 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the TRacket sensor design files?
From the CivicTechTO/tRacket-sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the TRacket sensor design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with CivicTechTO. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the TRacket sensor without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
