About the Cweep PCB

Cweep is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by cjshearer, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 108 × 94.7 mm, with 53 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-nRF52840, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the BQ25504. By type, the board carries 19 switches, 17 diodes, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the keyboards and power & battery designs in this gallery.

A 34 key split keyboard, inspired by the Ferris Sweep and powered by the sun.

A compact, 34 key, solar powered, reversible, split keyboard.

The case is generated from cweep.py using CadQuery, with geometry extracted from user layers in cweep.kicadpcb`.

Cweep: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cweep use?

The Cweep is built around the XIAO-nRF52840, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Cweep PCB?

The Cweep measures 108 × 94.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Cweep?

53 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cweep design files?

From the cjshearer/cweep repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cweep design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which cjshearer chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Cweep without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
