About the Forte PCB

Forte is an open source STM32 PCB design by codinga593, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 50 × 60 mm, with 60 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVFIQ, 114993390, MS5611-01BA, MAX-M10S-00B and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 27 capacitors, 16 resistors, 8 ICs, 5 connectors, 2 inductors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the rf & radio and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

A Mid powered Rocket with data logging and live telemetry (F32-T)

FORTE is a mid powered rocket with an estimated flight alitude of 137m initially, and a planned 1000m flight on a high powered motor later. It features a miniature onboard flight computer to verify data logging and live telemetry capabilties. The Flight computer has an inertial measurement unit and barometer to sense it's height and orientation. A LoRa Chip is placed onboard to stream data over 915 mHz to a ground station.

Forte: common questions

What microcontroller does the Forte use?

The Forte is built around the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Forte PCB?

The Forte measures 50 × 60 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Forte?

60 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Forte design files?

From the codinga593/Forte repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Forte design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with codinga593. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Forte without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
