About the MSX FPGA Hat

MSX FPGA Hat is an open source PCB design by costarc, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.9 × 64 mm, with 40 components from 20 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74LVC245 and LM1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 11 resistors, 6 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 transistors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the retro computing and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A Cartridge interface that converts MSX 5v signal levels to 3v, exposing an IDC connector for external devices that operates at 3v level.

Note: Current master branch not ready for fabrication due to major changes in the design. I am re-writing the new VHDL Top level design to demux the interface signals and exposed the MSX BUS according to the new interface changes (view v2.0 notes below).

V2.01 - incompatible with previous cores. - Removed U4OEn signal - this bus is not shared - can be grounded - Fixed some silk placement - Moved signals REFRESH,CS2 to own pins. This makes cores incompatible with version 2.0
