About the Okgo2usbcontrol PCB

Okgo2usbcontrol is an open source STM32 PCB design by cuspaceflight, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 25 mm, with 22 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F042K6T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the ADP3335 and RFM95W. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 resistors, 2 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Rocket motor ignition and valve control from far, far away

OkGo is Cambridge University Space Flight's rocket firing controller.

OkGo was designed for testing the Quasar hybrid rocket motor. It allowed remote (over 100m of wire) control of the nitrous oxide valve and firing of the ignition e-match. It was constructed using an ad-hoc point-to-point layout. An entirely passive design, it simply uses mechanical switches to trigger relays. It was later upgraded to control two valves, one of which passed a low flow of nitrous oxide to help start the motor.

Okgo2usbcontrol: common questions

What microcontroller does the Okgo2usbcontrol use?

The Okgo2usbcontrol is built around the STM32F042K6T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Okgo2usbcontrol PCB?

The Okgo2usbcontrol measures 40 × 25 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Okgo2usbcontrol?

22 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Okgo2usbcontrol design files?

From the cuspaceflight/OkGo repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Okgo2usbcontrol design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with cuspaceflight. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Okgo2usbcontrol without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
