About the Wifi lamp PCB

Wifi lamp is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by damianmoore, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 46.4 × 20.3 mm, with 8 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-01v090, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 switches and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A simple wifi-enabled lamp control board based on the ESP8266

A simple wifi-enabled lamp control board based on the ESP8266. It is intended primarily to help retrofit existing LED lamps, giving them switching and dimming functionality through a web browser or home automation system.

The project is based around the ESP8266-01 module as it is widely available, small, very cheap, easily programmable, and directly connects to your existing wifi network.

Wifi lamp: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wifi lamp use?

The Wifi lamp is built around the ESP-01v090, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Wifi lamp PCB?

The Wifi lamp measures 46.4 × 20.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wifi lamp?

8 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wifi lamp design files?

From the damianmoore/wifi-lamp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wifi lamp design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which damianmoore chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wifi lamp without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
