Originally part of the NASA Asteroid flyer program has been repurposed by the EPPL to allow anyone interested in controls to go online and connect with a real working device and test their own control algorithms on a live device that is connected to the global internet.

Originally part of the NASA Asteroid flyer program has been repurposed by the EPPL to allow anyone interested in controls to go online and connect with a real working device and test their own control algorithms on a live device that is connected to the global internet. The spacecraft has been refitted with new and improved wiring, updated computers and a website that allows for members to connect and upload code to.

Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET: common questions

What microcontroller does the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET use?

The Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET is built around the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET PCB?

The Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET measures 38.6 × 31 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET?

26 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET design files?

From the danielwilczak101/EasyControls repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with danielwilczak101. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Spacecraft ATmega328 MOSFET without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
