About the The cycle-Smartener PCB

The cycle-Smartener is an open source ESP32 PCB design by DhairyaAPImaster, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120 × 106.3 mm, with 26 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 9 connectors, 7 capacitors, 4 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the displays & leds and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

(makes a cycle kindda "smart")

So the Cycle smartener or TCS for short is basically this device that i designed that can be fitted on top of (almost) any modern cycle. Btw i made this cause i absolutelly love cycling and yeah having such a device would make the whole ride way more fun and interesting.

I plan on integrating TinyML (later) to also integrate AI into it so that it can do stuff like change the song or answer questions from voice commands. Alsoin next versions i plan on adding bluetooth so that one can connect their device - smart phone or something to it. and an sd card slot for one to put a micro sd in it to…

The cycle-Smartener: common questions

What microcontroller does the The cycle-Smartener use?

The The cycle-Smartener is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the The cycle-Smartener PCB?

The The cycle-Smartener measures 120 × 106.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the The cycle-Smartener?

26 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the The cycle-Smartener design files?

From the DhairyaAPImaster/The-cycle-Smartener repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the The cycle-Smartener design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which DhairyaAPImaster chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the The cycle-Smartener without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
