From the project
low-cost Flight Controller used for multiple application intuitive and easy to use and repair
Flighty is my very first custom-designed flight controller! I built this to be a versatile "brain" for just about anything that flies, from standard quadcopters and fixed-wing UAVs to high-power model rockets.
I am currently using this board to power my personal RC VTOL project. It’s designed to be easy to solder (THT components), easy to repair, and a great hands-on project for anyone interested in PCB assembly.

Flighty: common questions
What microcontroller does the Flighty use?
The Flighty is built around the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Flighty PCB?
The Flighty measures 68.2 × 77 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Flighty?
86 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Flighty design files?
From the diaxxu/Flighty repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Flighty design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with diaxxu. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Flighty without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
