About the Give-It-A-Shot PCB

Give-It-A-Shot is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by DinosaurPotato534, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 8 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the DS3231 and MPU-6050. By type, the board carries 3 ICs, 3 switches, 1 connector and 1 diode.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

This project was made as a gift for my sister since she is leaving for college. She enjoys photography, and always complained about how her phones camera postprocessing would alter the color of the photo too much, so I thought it would be a nice gift.

The project includes a RTC module, a mic module, several buttons and controls, a SK6812 LED for flash & as a shutter indicator, a IMU sensor, and a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a Pi Cam 3. The project is decently firmware-heavy, featuring full software image stabilization via the IMU sensor and full image post-processing.

Give-It-A-Shot: common questions

What microcontroller does the Give-It-A-Shot use?

The Give-It-A-Shot is built around the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Give-It-A-Shot PCB?

The Give-It-A-Shot measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Give-It-A-Shot?

8 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Give-It-A-Shot design files?

From the DinosaurPotato534/Give-It-A-Shot repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Give-It-A-Shot design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DinosaurPotato534. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Give-It-A-Shot without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
