About the BattleBots PCB

BattleBots is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by DominicTYLau, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 11 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the NRF24L01_Breakout and L293D. By type, the board carries 7 ICs, 3 modules and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the power & battery, robotics & motion and rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Description: This project contains two battle bots that are meant to battle each other. One has a vertical spinner while the other has a horizontal one. The chassis is mostly 3D printed with some electronics for the drive base. Both bots are powered by Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W board

Description: This project contains two battle bots that are meant to battle each other. One has a vertical spinner while the other has a horizontal one. The chassis is mostly 3D printed with some electronics for the drive base. Both bots are powered by Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W boards, each running a local server. Users connected to the same Wi-Fi network can control the bots through a web interface using arrow keys for movement and the space bar to activate the weapon.

BattleBots: common questions

What microcontroller does the BattleBots use?

The BattleBots is built around the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How many components are on the BattleBots?

11 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BattleBots design files?

From the DominicTYLau/BattleBots repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BattleBots design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DominicTYLau. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the BattleBots without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
