About the Dspic30f devboard kit PCB

Dspic30f devboard kit is an open source PIC PCB design by Esdras2, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 95.5 × 57 mm, with 20 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PIC18F4550-IP, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the L7805. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 resistors, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Breadboard-friendly dsPIC30F4011 (DIP-40, all-THT) dev board—KiCad 8 hardware (Rev D) plus XC16 demo firmware, 12 V→5 V regulation, crystal clock & ICSP.

Full schematic, 3-D renders, PDFs, and Gerbers live in /hardware/RevD/.*

Older spins remain for reference; Rev D is the recommended build.

KiCad → File ▸ Plot → select Gerber + Drill; zip and send to JLCPCB / PCBWay / OSH Park.

All parts are through-hole; ideal for hand-soldering or wave machines. Tip : keep bridge jumpers open on first power-up.

See docs/BOMRevD.xlsx for the full list with supplier SKUs.

Dspic30f devboard kit: common questions

What microcontroller does the Dspic30f devboard kit use?

The Dspic30f devboard kit is built around the PIC18F4550-IP, from the PIC family.

How big is the Dspic30f devboard kit PCB?

The Dspic30f devboard kit measures 95.5 × 57 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dspic30f devboard kit?

20 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dspic30f devboard kit design files?

From the Esdras2/dspic30f-devboard-kit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dspic30f devboard kit design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Esdras2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Dspic30f devboard kit without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
